Abstract
Researchers in empirical sciences like economists, demographers and others make use of official statistics in their work. The Bundesanstalt Statistik Austria is, due to the used statistical methods, in close natural rela-tionship to scientific research and also to universities. Thus, research col-laborations with members of the universities are quite common. Also, mem-bers of Statistics Austria regularly are teaching at universities. With coop-eration agreements, the relationship with some universities was formalized. Since 2006, Statistics Austria offers anonymised micro-data for scientific analysis. As service for researchers, more of remote computing and safe center data-access shall be offered in future.
