Quotation Schramm, Hans-Joachim. 2014. The Air Cargo Industry in Europe: Challenges and Opportunities. Air Transport Colloquium 2014, Antwerpen, Belgien, 04.12.-05.12.. Invited Talk

Liberalization resulted in an overall increasing market concentration with global freight forwarding companies dominating the market. But there is a growing second segment of highly specialized small to tiny air cargo agents. Hence, today we have two main market segments: (a) Top League: Global freight forwarders with highly standardized product offerings through their branch network an (b) Bottom of Market: Specialists where value added logistics matter, not solemly air cargo transport. Medium-sized agents with operations based on correspondent system seem to die out!
