Abstract

Mainstream economics, with its present methodological approach, is limited in its ability to analyze and develop adequate approaches public policy to deal with environmental problems. This book explores alternative approaches from two heterodox schools of eocnomic thought. Building on the strengths and insights of Post Keynesian and Ecological Economics the volume covers a rang of topics including problems in combining these two fields, growth theory, consumer theory and sutainable consumption, biophysical foundations of the economy and social metabolism, and satisficing.
